Sir Christopher Stone is the Chief Education Officer – (MENASA) for GEMS Schools across the UAE and Deputy Chief Academic Officer for the GEMS Academic Council. Previously he was CEO of the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership – a multi academy trust in the UK.
He is recognized as an outstanding leader providing leadership, learning and teaching support in the primary and secondary phases in a number of international settings. First appointed as a Principal in 1995 successive Ofsted reports have described his schools as making outstanding progress due to his ‘outstanding and inspiring leadership’. On behalf of the British Council he has provided leadership, guidance and training for Principals and ministers in Vietnam, Singapore, Australia, Finland and Scotland. He was made a National Leader of Education in 2008 and his inclusion in the New Year’s Honors list of 2013 endorsed his outstanding service to education when he was awarded a knighthood. In 2012 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Birmingham City University for his work in Educational leadership and for driving up educational standards in the region. His schools were in the first cohort of Teaching Schools as well as the first of two SCITT’s to be created. He has been asked to provide support and guidance to successive UK governments taking him into regular contact with the last three British Prime Ministers.
