Rohan Roberts

Head of Future Learning GEMS Education, UAE

Rohan Roberts is the Head of Future Learning at GEMS Education where he is responsible for promoting Innovation Strategy Planning and Entrepreneurship across 40+ institutions of learning in the UAE & rest of the MENA region. Central to his role is the generation and expansion of programmes and strategies aimed at redefining institutions as places in which new ideas, solutions, and products are developed, shared, and scaled, and lead to significant improvement outcomes. In 2017, he was a finalist of the $1 million Global Teacher Prize and in 2014 he received the Distinguished Educator Award from Sheikh Hamdan, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai. Rohan is also the co-founder of Awecademy and Café Scientifique Dubai, and is the Director of the Dubai Science Festival.

We live in an era characterised by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital and biological spheres. This has had a dramatic impact on all aspects of society. This techno-philosophical talk considers the impact of these exponential technologies (in particular A.I. and XR) on education and how they can be employed in ways that ensure the learning experience is interactive, engaging and meaningful.
