Senior Business Development Manager Future-Ready Skills and Employability , Microsoft
Jeff Johnson is Senior Business Development Manager for the Future-Ready Skills team in Worldwide Education at Microsoft. In his role, Jeff is responsible for outreach to K-12 and higher education academic institutions, educators, and partners around the world surrounding adoption and engagement with the Microsoft Imagine Academy Program for skills learning, Minecraft: Education Edition, the Microsoft Professional Program, Azure for Students cloud learning resources and the globally recognized Microsoft industry certifications. Jeff is instrumental in driving the Microsoft education and workforce skills agenda with educators, policymakers and government leaders across the globe.
Previously, Jeff was a Solution Specialist in the Worldwide Learning Group at Microsoft representing employability skills and industry certification programs. Jeff is influential in helping Microsoft form broad education alliances with dozens of states and multiple countries to assist students in gaining future-ready skills and credentials for the digital economy.
Prior to joining Microsoft in 2007, Jeff served in teaching and administration roles in technical and business academic programs in higher education at Bellevue (WA) College and at the University of Maryland. Jeff also served as executive director of the National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies, a National Science Foundation-supported Advanced Technology Education Center headquartered at Bellevue College. In addition, Jeff possesses previous U.S. federal government policy experience, serving in Washington, DC, as legislative assistant, speechwriter and adviser to a Member of the U.S. Congress.
Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and a master’s degree from the University of Maryland.
Jeff resides in Bellevue, Washington, USA, with his wife, Lorie, has a daughter, Bridget, studying Chemistry at Pepperdine University, and enjoys an occasional round of golf, playing trombone in a local alumni band, family time and traveling.
