Dr Zahra Al Rawahi

Director of Building Innovative Capabilities Research Council of the Sultanate of Oman

Dr. Zahra Al-Rawahi is a Director of Innovation Capacity Building at The Research Council. Previously, she served as Director of Research of Communication and Information Technology.

Dr. Al-Rawahi’s works involve developing talents in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and equip them with the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes that can promote them to be in positions of influence within the organizations. She believe professionals who understand the dynamics of science and technology within the context of economic and market development, are critical to help in designing blueprints and strategic implementation frameworks to lead strategic transformation within countries and organizations.

Dr. Al-Rawahi serves as an Associate Researcher on e-Learning. She has conducted research, workshops, and presented large number of papers on International conferences and gathering. Her Major research interests include e-learning/e-assessment, adaptive system and Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS). Dr. Al-Rawahi holds a Ph.D in Computer Sciences and Artificial Intelligences from University of Sussex. She is also a member of many International professional organizations on ICT.

Enhancing Online Learning: An answer to a global shift in education delivery

Online learning and e-learning have taken a central role in contemporary education, demanding a new range of pedagogical skills from educators across the world. In this session we will review the remarkable global shift to online education observed during 2020 and explore the successes, challenges and lessons which have emerged from our global learning community. These will include:
  • The importance of providing staff with proper training in order to facilitate truly effective online learning
  • Utilising online resources, understanding the right fit for your institution and learning from collaborative education communities
  • Maintaining student engagement and learning outcomes during times of change
